PPE Kit For Infection Control
Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is a specialized set of clothing designed to prevent injury or the spread of infection. Specific components of PPE include gloves, shoe covers, gowns, head covers, masks, eye protection, respirators, face shields, and goggles. These are an integral part of safety precautions worn majorly by healthcare workers or visitors in exposure to infectious diseases. It also prevents patients during surgical procedures as they are at a high risk of contracting hazardous infections. PPE substantially demonstrates biocompatibility, antimicrobial nature, fluid resistance, and high standards of barrier quality from infectious substances. PPEs have a commendable potential to obstruct the transmission of the virus, bacteria, or infectious material, especially from blood, skin, eyes or respiratory fluids through the mouth or nose. Due to the nature of the technical fabric that forms it, splash repellent equipment that, when used appropriately and other preventive measures like handwashing, sanitizers, and some other standard measures, minimize the risk of infection, blocking the transfer of contaminants. It is evident from the Covid-19 Pandemic scenario that the shortage of PPE kits has resulted in the death of many healthcare workers. No doubt, they are of paramount importance during the widely spread Covid-19 disease.
PPEs stored in an area that is free from dust or moisture and, in case they are reusable, should be kept in hygienic and clean conditions.
